Il peut avoir 20 \u00e0 30 m\u00e8tres de haut. Ses feuilles \u00e9cailleuses peuvent persister plusieurs ann\u00e9es. Le cypr\u00e8s \u00e9tait utilis\u00e9 dans les constructions avec les c\u00e8dres. On fabrique les poutres des temples et des palais, des colonnes, des lambris, des pontages de navires (en Ez 27, la ville de Tyr est compar\u00e9e \u00e0 un navire au pont de cypr\u00e8s).
