C\u2019est un arbre qui peut avoir une hauteur de 4 \u00e0 7 m\u00e8tres. Son bois est dur. Un olivier peut avoir une vie de 2000 ans. On peut le transplanter m\u00eame apr\u00e8s des dizaines d\u2019ann\u00e9es.\u00a0Il donne du fruit pendant des si\u00e8cles.\u00a0Lorsqu\u2019on parle de la terre promise, on y mentionne l\u2019olivier (il y a \u00ab\u00a0du froment, de l\u2019orge, de la vigne, des figuiers, des grenadiers, des oliviers, de l\u2019huile, du miel\u00a0\u00bb Dt 8,8).<\/p>\n

L\u2019olivier est symbole de paix assur\u00e9e ou retrouv\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Les olives, chez les Romains, commen\u00e7aient et finissaient tous les repas.\u00a0La fabrication d\u2019huile d\u2019olive, en terre sainte, est une ressource du pays. On voit des pressoirs \u00e0 huile dans beaucoup de localit\u00e9s. Le nom Geths\u00e9mani vient d\u2019ailleurs du mot \u00ab\u00a0pressoir\u00a0\u00e0 huile \u00bb. Cette localit\u00e9 se trouve juste en-dessous du\u2026 jardin des oliviers, bien s\u00fbr\u00a0!<\/p>\n
