Mesurant plus de 2,50 m\u00e8tres de haut, il est adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 la course et \u00e0 la marche sur des sols mouvants, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses pattes \u00e0 deux doigts aux soles \u00e9lastiques. Comme son nom l\u2019indique, le dromadaire (du grec \u00ab\u00a0dromas\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0: le coureur), peut parcourir 100 km en une journ\u00e9e. Il subsiste en mangeant tr\u00e8s peu et en pouvant ne rien boire durant 2 \u00e0 3 semaines. Il d\u00e9tecte l\u2019eau de loin, et quand il fait le plein, c\u2019est tout de suite presque 200 litres. C\u2019est un tr\u00e9sor pour les caravaniers car il a une ou\u00efe excellente, une bonne vue et un odorat tr\u00e8s fin. La chamelle peut donner chaque jour jusqu\u2019\u00e0 6 litres d\u2019un lait tr\u00e8s riche. Comme il faut bien aussi\u00a0des d\u00e9fauts au chameau\/dromadaire, il est plut\u00f4t rancunier, peu affectueux et d\u2019une humeur parfois ex\u00e9crable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dans la Bible,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>poss\u00e9der un chameau est un signe de richesse. Job avait des chameaux en pagaille avant de tout perdre. J\u00e9sus reprend peut-\u00eatre ce lien de richesse en disant qu&rsquo;il est plus facile \u00e0 un chameau de passer dans un trou d&rsquo;aiguille qu&rsquo;\u00e0 un riche d&rsquo;entrer dans le Royaume des Cieux.
